Sri Pada Trekking Tour

Adam’s Peak, or Sri Pada as known in Sri Lanka, is a mountain 2243m high in the south of the central highlands. The mountain features a rock formation that is considered as the footprint of Buddha for Buddhists. The mountain has a path to the top consisting of several thousand steps, many different heights and uneven. The ascent takes on average 4 hours and is particularly steep towards the top, although is quite safe as there are handrails to hold on. Many Sri Lankans make the climb several times in their lives; one can ring the temple bell at the top as many times as one has climbed. The 1400m ascent means a significant difference in temperature as you reach the top, and this is exacerbated by the wind. It is not a hard climb but especially on the way down, leg muscles will be overexerted.

Description

Sri Pada Trekking Tour that takes you from Ella, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Gampola, to the trekking tour, famous for Sri pada trekking, Devon Fall, St.Clair Fall, Mohini Fall and beautiful waterfall with enjoying the hidden wonders of the tropical mount range. Climb to the top of a mountain, walk beautiful tea plantation and visit many Buddhist and Hindu temples.

The pilgrimage season period is a particularly busy time to climb; it runs from Full Moon December to Full Moon May. At the top, the wind is very strong, but the scenery is breathtaking. Clouds lying 500m below hit the mountain and skim over the top, giving a spectacular sight. Many people attempt the ascent in the early hours of the morning, with the goal of seeing the sunrise; others climb in the afternoon to see the sundown. Climbing Sri Pada is possible during the off-season too (June to November). However, due to the weather conditions, we recommend climbing the mountain in the daytime.

The mountain is also known as the “butterfly mountain” for the large numbers of butterflies that visit and perish each year. So bringing food and especially water is important if you would climb then. The Sri Paadha trekking tour extremely offers superb nature trails through tropical rain forests, waterfalls, streams and rivers, and past lush tea plantations.

I can highly recommend the Ella day tour with 4rest Lanka Tours! Dilan safely guided me through Ella Rock, Little Adam's Peak and Nine Arch Bridge. He responded promptly to my emails, is very reliable and communicative. He was well prepared for the trip and told some interesting historical facts and details on the visited placed as well. We were not rushing, but gave me time to hike at my own pace. It was really a lovely day!

We had the most amazing tour with Dilan last year! We booked 2 tours with him - one for an elephant safari at the Udawalawe national park, and then the next day for a waterfall hike. He was so knowledgable, and so accommodating to tailor the tours to what we were interested in seeing more of. He also surprised us with a 2nd secret, hidden waterfall and pulled out packed lunches his mother had made for us 🙂 It was a very special few days we spent with Dilan understanding more about the Sri Lankan culture and history, and the beauty of the country. We will never forget it, and we'd recommend Dilan and 4rest Lanka Tours to anyone going to Sri Lanka!

I booked the x6 waterfalls and had Dilan txt me the night before to confirm everything. He even added in a trip to lipton tea and a buddha statue which was not on the itenerary to which I couldnt say no to. He picked me up on his motorbike as it was faster and easier to travel to all the spots and I agreed as Ive done it before around Asia ans i enjoy the fresh breeze. Went to the newly built buddha statue on Ellas hill top with awsome biews of the city then went to Lipton tea. It was amazing views EVERYWHERE we rode. Then came all the waterfalls which I captured many awsome pics. Dilun was awsome and kind and reliable. Highly reccomend to fellow travellers, he wont dissapoint. 🤙🙌

We thoroughly enjoyed an almost day-long adventure tour with our very knowledgeable guide Dilan (Ella Rock, Adam’s Peak, and 9 Arch Bridge). He picked us up from our homestay for an early start to Ella Rock. We walked along the tracks for a bit, before starting an invigorating ascent towards the Rock. Dilan knew the trails very well and expertly (and safely) guided us to the top while giving us insight into some of the environmental issues as well while adding some personal stories to the mix. We had to catch a late breakfast at our homestay after our hike, and Dilan was accommodating and even found us a shortcut to our homestay so we could make it on time. After breakfast, we headed to the 9 Arch bridge, where we were able to watch the train from a great vantage point. Dilan gave us some interesting history of the bridge and the man behind the arch design. After a quick break, we continued on to Adam’s peak for another hike (a little less strenuous than Ella rock). At the end, we were quite pleasantly tired from the days activities, and we stopped for a late lunch before the end our the tour. Dilan also gave us some tips on other interesting places to visit and what to look for. Thanks Dilan!
