You will be starting your tour at 8:00 am from your hotel in Kandy. A vehicle with your chauffeur guide will pick you up. Be ready for a hot day with lots of walking involved.
Your first stop will be the outer precinct of the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic. The Temple of the sacred Tooth Relic is one of the most important Buddhist religious sites in Sri Lanka. The sacred Tooth of the Buddha is enshrined in this magnificent temple.
The Royal Palace situated toward the north of the Temple of the Tooth was the royal residence of the Sinhalese monarchy of the Kingdom of Kandy.
The museum in the former royal palace and you can learn more about artifacts, weapons and the Kandian era. It will be quite interesting to view these and listen to your guide to explain the stories behind some of the key artifacts.
Kandy View Point
Drive up the mountain to the ‘View Point’, a breath-taking spot from where one can have a bird’s eye view of the city of Kandy and take some great photographs too.
After this, you will be walking back down to Kandy Lake, also called the ‘Sea of Milk’, in the heart of the city is an artificial lake that was built in 1807 by King Sri Wickrama Rajasinghe.
Udawattakelle Forest Reserve
This is a historic forest reserve on a hill-ridge in the city of Kandy and is the perfect spot for those seeking walking/hiking and adventure. Udawattakele is the best place to see hill country birds in Sri Lanka.
Bahirawakanda is very attractive and close to the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. It is one of the most enchanting sites that you can visit in the Hill Country of Sri Lanka. The incredible beauty of the brilliant white Buddha statue can be seen everywhere in Kandy city here will take your very breath away for sure.
Peradeniya Botanical Garden
The Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens is the largest garden an elegant and spacious 147-acres (60-hectares) plenty of time is needed to stroll Peradeniya’s imposing Avenue of Royal Palms.
